A Warren Area High School graduate is having himself quite a spring so far on the Mercyhurst University baseball team

Saturday was the ultimate highlight.

Ryan Rafalski tossed a no-hitter in the second game of a doubleheader against Pitt-Johnstown as the Lakers prevailed 4-0.

The win improved Rafalski’s record this season to 4-0 with a sterling 1.73 earned run average and a 0.99 batting average against. Against the Mountain Cats he struck out two, walked six and threw 94 pitches to become the first Mercyhurst pitcher to throw a no-hitter since 2019 when Tyler Garbee did it against Slippery Rock in a 2-0 win.

Through Sunday, the Lakers are 16-15 overall and 13-6 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

A four-year letterman in baseball at WAHS, Rafalski is the son of Jason and Samantha Rafalski.
