Warren County boys and girls basketball teams from Warren, Eisenhower and Youngsville will participate in the District 10 playoffs, beginning with Warren’s boys basketball team on Thursday of this week.

BOYS BASKETBALL

WARREN

The Dragons (17-5) are the third seed in the eight-team D10 Class 4A playoffs, beginning with a familiar opponent. In fact, Warren just played Corry (13-9) on Friday in its last regular-season contest.

Region 6 opponents, the Dragons will meet the Beavers in the quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Meadville Area Senior High School.

Warren finished in second place, and as the top 4A seed, in the six-team Region 6. Warren was 7-3 in the region, including two wins — 79-62 and 79-38 — over Corry (3-7 in the region).

No. 2 Grove City (13-9) plays No. 7 Harbor Creek (10-12) in the game prior to Warren’s — at 6 p.m. at Meadville’s “House of Thrills.”

On the other side of the bracket in the quarterfinals, No. 1 Sharon (19-3) hosts No. 8 General McLane (10-11) at 6 p.m. Thursday at Farrell High School. No. 4 Slippery Rock (14-8) and No. 5 Hickory (15-7) will follow there at 7:30 p.m.

EISENHOWER

Co-Region 3 champion Eisenhower (18-4) — on a five-game winning streak and winners of six of seven games if you include the one-point loss at Saegertown to open the month — is the No. 2 seed in the eight-team 2A playoffs. The Knights will meet Sharpsville (7-15) in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Friday at Oil City High School.

The winner of Ike-Sharpsville will face the winner of No. 3 Lakeview (16-6) and No. 6 Iroquois (11-11), which play at 6 p.m. Friday at Farrell High School.

On the bracket’s other side, on Friday, No. 4 Cambridge Springs (16-6) meets No. 5 Saegertown (15-6) at 6 p.m. at Meadville Area Senior High School. Eisenhower, Cambridge Springs and Saegertown were all 10-2 in Region 3. The No. 1 seed and Region 2 champ Mercer (19-3) will play Erie First (5-16) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Farrell HS.

YOUNGSVILLE

In the four-team 1A playoffs, No. 4 Youngsville (8-14) receives a bye into the semifinals against No. 1 Farrell (17-4) on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at a time and place to be determined. The Eagles — with only two seniors — have lost seven straight, and nine of 10 after starting 7-5.

In the other semifinal, No. 2 Rocky Grove (15-7) will play No. 3 Cochranton (9-13) on Feb. 27 at a time and place to be determined.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

WARREN

Warren’s Region 5 champion girls basketball team is 18-4 and riding a 13-game winning streak into the 4A playoffs. The Lady Dragons receive the second seed in the eight-team playoffs and will meet No. 7 General McLane (8-14) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mercyhurst University.

The winner of Warren-McLane will meet the winner of No. 3 Harbor Creek (12-9) and No. 6 Grove City (16-6) in the semifinals. That quarterfinal game follows Warren’s game (at 4 p.m. Saturday at Mercyhurst University).

On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Fairview (17-5) out of Region 6 meets No. 8 Corry (9-12) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Cathedral Prep’s Hagerty Center. No. 4 Conneaut (15-7) will play No. 5 Franklin (14-8) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Meadville Area Senior High School.

EISENHOWER

In Class 2A, No. 7 Eisenhower (10-11) opens the eight-team field at 1 p.m. Saturday at Meadville Area Senior High School against No. 2-seeded and Region 2 champion Maplewood (19-3). The winner of Ike-Maplewood will play in the semifinals against the winner of No. 3 Lakeview (13-9) and No. 6 Cochranton (12-10), which follow Eisenhower’s game at 4 p.m. Saturday at Meadville.

On the other side of the brackets, No. 1 and Region 1 champion Kennedy Catholic (17-4) plays No. 8 Union City (11-11) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Farrell High School. No. 4 West Middlesex (17-4) meets No. 5 Mercer (15-7) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Farrell HS.

YOUNGSVILLE

In Class 1A, the top-seeded Lady Eagles (7-15) receive a bye into the D10 championship game on Saturday, March 2, at a site and time to be determined. Youngsville will play the winner of No. 2 Rocky Grove (7-15) and No. 3 Jamestown, Pa. (5-15), which will meet in a semifinal matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Youngsville topped Jamestown, 41-40, on Dec. 28, and beat Rocky Grove two out of three games, losing 29-20 on Dec. 29 and winning 51-37 on Jan. 18 and 38-32 on Feb. 12.
