Seven Dragons combined for 30 first-quarter points and Warren’s boys basketball team ended the regular season with a 79-38 Region 6 win over Corry on Friday at Warren Area High School.

Senior Brady Berdine scored 10 of his 20 points in Warren’s 30-11 first, and he had two of the Dragons’ six 3-pointers over the first eight minutes.

“Good first quarter,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine, whose Dragons finish the regular season at 17-5 overall and 7-3 and tied for second place in the region. “In the second quarter, we gave up a couple of easy buckets out of our press, but it created the tempo we want, and you can see by the third quarter and in the second half, they were tired. The kids did a great job tonight; we talked about bringing energy and this is a team we could work on things defensively, switching on pretty much anything with those first seven kids, and I thought we did a good job early.”

Ahead 45-20 at halftime, Warren allowed just one field goal in the third quarter to start a running clock for the rest of the game.

Seniors Braylon Barnes, Tommy Nyquist and Konnor Hoffman connected on 3-pointers in a 20-4 Warren third quarter.

“Twelve 3s could be a season high for us,” said Berdine.

Barnes finished with a game-high 21 points, Berdine 20, Nyquist had three 3-pointers and 10 points, and Hoffman added two 3-pointers and 8 points.

Ten Dragons scored points, and all six Warren seniors connected on 3-pointers in their last home game.

Corry ends its regular season at 13-9 overall and 3-7 in Region 6. Warren finishes as the top Class 4A seed in the region behind first-place and 3A Franklin and tied with 3A Oil City. The District 10 playoff brackets will be announced on Sunday.

NOTES: Lucas Thrift had 14 points and teammate Landon Wood 13, including three 3-pointers, in the Warren junior varsity boys basketball team’s 55-38 win over Corry. Landon Atha led Corry with 13 points.
