OIL CITY — Second-seeded Eisenhower used a 15-3 first-quarter run to start Friday night’s District 10 quarterfinal boys basketball game and it never looked back en route to a 68-44 victory over No. 7 Sharpsville at Oil City High School.

The win advances the Knights into the semifinals Tuesday at a site to be determined against No. 6 Iroquois, which knocked off No. 3 Lakeview 54-49. Eisenhower defeated the Braves twice during the regular season.

“I thought we did a nice job on both ends of the court,” Eisenhower coach Ryan Mangini said. “It was a nice win for us.”

Literally from the start.

After Sharpsville’s Aiden Cadmen scored the game’s first points when he hit a deep 3-pointer, the Knights proceeded to go on to score the next 15 points by four different players to open a 15-3 lead heading into the second quarter.

The Blue Devils began to score from outside in the second period as Kieran Scullin hit a pair of treys, but Eisenhower’s Austin Hanson and Maysen Wonderling each hit shots from beyond the arc to extend the Knights’ lead to 31-20 at the half.

“I thought Kris (Bunk), Kyler (Black) and Gavin (Lindemuth) did a really nice job on the boards,” Mangini said. “Their play really shut down their big man.”

Eisenhower had five different players score in the third quarter to extend the lead to 52-31 heading into the final period.

Hanson had a big night on his birthday as he led all scorers with 22 points.

“Austin had a really nice game and did a great job running the show for us,” Mangini said.

Joining Hanson in double figures for the Knights was Black with 13. Sharpsville was led by Aiden Cadman, who had 10 points.
