Eagles fall to Farrell in 1A

Steelers move on with 73-25 win

MEADVILLE — Down two starters and facing the two-time defending District 10 Class 1A champions, Youngsville faced an uphill battle in Tuesday’s D-10 semifinal contest with Farrell at Meadville Area High School.

The top-seeded Steelers (18-5) scored 22 of the game’s first 24 points and cruised into their third straight championship with a 73-25 win over the fourth-seeded Eagles. Farrell will face Rocky Grove in the championship game as the Orioles defeated the Cochranton Cardinals 60-51 in Tuesday’s other semifinal.

Dontaye Bell scored a game-high 27 points for the winners with Danny Odem adding 15 points and Julius Phillips 14 of his own.

The Eagles (8-15) were led by Rylan Benton’s 9 points. Nathan Lucks added 8 points and Cash Moore, Josh Pikna, Rodney Rowland and Ollie Boozer also scored for Youngsville, who played without usual starters Carson Chase and Ethan Beers.
