YOUNGSVILLE — Eisenhower won the latest edition of the annual Backyard Brawl, handing the Youngsville Eagles a 48-21 setback on Alumni Night at Youngsville High School on Wednesday.
The Knights won five of the seven matches contested on the evening en route to the comfortable victory.
Ike started the night by jumping out to an 18-0 lead thanks to three consecutive forfeits in a match that began at 152 pounds. The Knights’ Cole Kellogg (152 pounds), Aidan Nichols (160) and Tucker Lindell (172) all won bouts without having to break a sweat.
The first contested match of the night came at 189 pounds where Youngsville senior Aidan Mancuso squared off with Eisenhower’s Bryceton Wilkins. Wilkins struck first with a takedown in the second period, but Mancuso rebounded with an escape to make it 2-1 with a period to go.
In the third period, Mancuso was able to score on a reversal to take a 3-2 lead and ride out the rest of the match to get the Eagles on the board.

The momentum was short-lived as Ike senior J.J. Darr was up next in a 215-pound bout with Youngsville’s Graeme Minnis. Minnis scored the first takedown of the match, but Darr quickly rallied back by turning a reversal into a pin in just 44 seconds.
The Eagles’ Connor Minnis won via forfeit at 285 pounds and there was no match at 107 pounds, leaving the Knights ahead 24-9 with six weight classes left on the card.
Eisenhower put the match away with quick pins at 114 and 121 pounds. At 114, Rever Caudill needed just 1:44 to score the pin over Youngsville’s Sarah Blauser while at 121 pounds Griffin Williams pinned the Eagles’ Cole Johnson.
The Knights’ third consecutive win came at 127 pounds with Ryan Chambers pinning Youngsville’s Shelby Lobdell late in the opening period.
Trailing 42-9, the Eagles scored 12 points in the next two matches with a pair of wins. First, Michael Carnahan decked Ike’s Kita Nelson at 133 pounds and Eagles 139-pounder Kenneth Shellhouse followed with a forfeit.
The final match of the night was between Ike’s Derek Childs and Youngsville’s Carsyn Branstrom at 145 pounds with Childs logging the pin in 1:08.
