Warren trap falls to Corry in close match

Warren came up a little short in a very close match against Corry on Tuesday, falling 167-161. The top seven scorers from each team count for the team total, and each player shoots at 25 clay targets, for a maximum possible score of 175.

Both teams were well represented, as the Dragons boasted a 37-shooter lineup, and the Beavers brought out 40. Warren varsity was led by sophomore Taige Davis who shot 24 of his 25 targets, followed by 23 apiece from Zane Carlson, Jordie Pearson, Sebastian Lawson, Jacob Retterer and Garrett Winship. Rounding out the top seven for the Dragons was Kolton Sumrow with a 22. The High Lady for Warren was Alainah Ginkel with a 21.

In junior varsity action, the Dragons were victorious 144-138.

Colton Clever shot a 22, followed by Parker Lauffenburger and Ginkel’s 21, and Sebastian Oyola, Brody Connelly, Damian Taylor and Baylee Mead all shot 20.

Corry varsity was led by Trevor Ongley at 25, with Jace Osrander, Tyler Coulter, Mac Jewell and Gavin Munsee hitting 24 targets. Recording 23s were Thomas Sloane and Mason Huling. Corry’s High Lady was Patience Sandreth at 22. For junior varsity, the Beavers were led by Zackary Troyer’s 23, followed by Lucas Higby at 22, Hunter Eckstrom 21, Aidan Bliss 21, Evelyn Billott 18, Kensley Sheldon 17 and Dustin Jackson 16.

Warren varsity now stands at 1-1 on the season, and has a home match against Tidioute next Tuesday.
