Alexander, Lindell prevail for Warren
NORTH EAST — Warren sophomore Morgan Alexander won the girls race and junior Sam Lindell won the boys race as the Dragons split a cross country meet Tuesday at North East.
In fact, Warren teammates Alexander, Hannah Pearson and Cassidy Britton finished 1-2-3 and the Lady Dragons cruised to a 19-38 team victory. Alexander won the 3.1-mile race in 21:55, Pearson was second in 22:01 and Britton third in 22:11. Emma Peterson finished sixth in 24:14, Loralei Johnson seventh in 24:59, Riley Evan ninth in 25:18, Jahzara Hunter 13th in 26:41, Leona Hovan 15th in 26:59 and Kasey Kophazy 17th of 19 in 29:10.
“Our girls’ team had a great showing taking the top three spots with Morgan Alexander, Hannah Pearson and Cassidy Britton to come away with a dominating win,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “Sam Lindell led the way for the boys’ race, but the team lost in a close one.”
Lindell crossed the tape in 16:59. Teammate Cam Williams was third out of 26 in 18:35, Michael Bojaczko seventh in 19:53, and Emre Morgan eighth a second later in North East’s 26-31 win. After five North East finishers, Gavin Heeter was 14th at 20:48. Other Warren finishers were: Christopher Joblon (16th, 21:13), Cole English (19th, 21:37), Sammy White (20th, 22:17), Trenton Ferrell (22nd, 23:29), Jonathan Bojaczko (24th, 24:03), Parker Mowrey (25th, 24:22) and Jack Monroe (26th, 25:04).
“Overall, the heat made for a challenging day, but our kids showed up and raced well,” said Dustin. “We are in a pretty good spot right now.”
