Bowers leads Warren to sweep of Mercyhurst Prep

Warren’s volleyball team — getting better by the set — swept Mercyhurst Prep 3-0 on Monday at Warren Area High School.
“Alexia Bowers had a really nice all-around game,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan, whose Dragons are 8-0-3 on the young season with the nonregion 25-21, 25-13, 25-16 win. “She attacked really well and made some terrific plays in the back row.”
The senior Bowers finished with 10 kills and nine digs, senior middle hitter Kyle Fehlman had seven kills and three blocks, and Maddy Jones contributed six kills, two blocks and an ace.
“Summer Lucks and all the passers did a nice job in serve-receive and Lindsay Madigan did a great job getting the ball to all the hitters,” said Dolan. “Defense was key; all the front-row players had at least one block and got hands on a lot of the attacks from MPS.”
Lucks had 11 digs plus six aces, and Madigan finished with 26 assists and three aces.

In Warren’s 25-13, 25-15 junior varsity win, Brooke Sherry contributed four aces and four kills, Malysia Sorensen had six digs, two aces and three assists, Lauren Fajbik turned in five kills, Julia Getner and Attie Corey each had two kills, Brynn Norris had two aces, two digs and six assists, and Peyton Cabisca handed out six assists.
