OIL CITY — The Youngsville track & field team returned home with some impressive performances at the Oil City Track & Field Invitational held this past weekend in Oil City.
Perhaps no athlete had a bigger day than freshman Ethan Beers. He was the winner in the long jump with a leap of 21-feet, 6-inches as well as second in the triple jump, finishing with a 41-foot, 5.5-inch jump.
Beers was also a member of the fifth-place finishing boys 4X100 relay team that finished with a district qualifying time of 46.42 seconds. Competing with Beers were seniors Koby Hendrickson and Ethan Senz as well as sophomore Talon Mesel.
Beers wasn’t the only overall champion for Youngsville as senior Blake Myers continued his impressive final season for the Eagles, winning the high jump by clearing 6-feet, 1-inch.
Other standouts on the day were senior Logan McDonald who narrowly missed the podium with a seventh-place finish in the 110 hurdles, beating the district qualifying mark. For the girls, freshman Riley Robinault was fifth in the long jump and sixth in the 100-meter dash.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday when they host Union City for their lone home meet of the season.
