By submissions from the region’s coaches, Harrison is a 2022-2023 first-team region all-star in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke.

Harrison holds the school record in nearly every individual boys event, and broke the District 10 Class 2A record in winning the 200 IM in 1:53.38 at S.P.I.R.E. Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Warren coach Russ Beyer was confident that Harrison deserved the region swimmer of the year honor, despite the first- and second-team all-star lists being littered with Cathedral Prep swimmers.

“He’s one of the top 10 overall swimmers in the state,” Beyer said of the two-time PIAA medalist who earned a silver in the 100 back. “He would have medaled in any AA swimming event at PIAAs. The 500 free would have been close. He was the most dominant swimmer in our region. He never lost a dual meet race.”

The Lady Dragons are also represented as Laney Gatto was voted a first-team Region 3 all-star in diving. The junior finished fourth at the District 10 Championships and, along with teammates Izzy Heacox (fifth), Ellie Yeager (10th), and Bailey Williams (11th), helped ensure the Dragons won the team diving title in Class 2A.

“Laney Gatto is out of that Katie Madigan mold; very talented and extremely hardworking,” said Beyer. “She brings the right approach to the sport of diving. Big things to come for her in the future.”

Seventh at districts, Warren junior Summer Lucks was a second-team all-star in the girls’ 100 butterfly.

“Summer Lucks is a strong and talented swimmer,” said Beyer. “Every year, she improves and is creeping closer to the team fly record and a state-qualifying time. Next year will be her year.”
