Warren’s boys basketball team scored the game’s first 17 points and led 33-6 after one quarter en route to a 69-41 Region 6 victory over Conneaut on Tuesday at Warren Area High School.

“That is the most unselfish we’ve played a half of basketball so far this year,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine, whose Dragons remain the top 4A team in the region at 4-3. “We scored on 16 of the first 17 possessions in the first quarter with zero turnovers. That’s how you come out and take control of a game.”

Brady Berdine scored 15 of his team-high 19 points in the quarter to help Warren build a 27-point lead.

In the second quarter, Owen Becker had 6 points and Chase Sitler 5, including a 3-pointer to end the half, and Warren led 52-13 entering the third quarter.

“(We) did a very nice job sharing the ball in the first half that really gave us the working lead,” said coach Berdine.

Conneaut (3-16 overall, 0-7 Region 6) showed a little life in starting the second half on a 10-0 run. Shakir Jordan scored 13 points in a 17-9 Eagles’ third.

Warren’s starters sat the fourth quarter and the Dragons finished with its second lopsided win over Conneaut in a month.

In addition to Brady Berdine’s 19 points, teammate Anthony Errett scored 12 points, Chase Sitler 9, Konnor Hoffman and Owen Becker 8 each, Braylon Barnes 6, Jack Darling 4, and Tommy Nyquist 3.

There was no junior varsity game Tuesday.

Warren (11-7 overall) next hosts Titusville on Friday on Senior Night, honoring Parks Ordiway, Becker, Errett and Darling.
