Chautauqua Striders has opened its online registration for the 2023 Winter 5K Series registration at RunSignUp.com

The series is age-graded, with races starting and finishing at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel. Age-grading levels the playing field for all runners, just as a “handicap” is intended to do in bowling and golf. It provides the runner with the percentage value of an “ideal,” or best time, for his or her age and gender. Runners are encouraged to register or renew their Chautauqua Striders Athletic Club membership before signing up for the series or individual races as it will allow them to receive a 10% discount per event. Participants can sign up or renew their memberships on Chautauqua Striders’ Run Sign Up page, under the heading “Chautauqua Striders Athletic Club.”

The cost is $75 for the entire series (plus registration fees) which is a $25 savings compared to purchasing entry to each race separately. To be eligible for overall event awards, participants must register for the entire series and complete four out of the five races. If all five races are run, the highest race time will be dropped.

Registration for individual races within the series is $20 per race until noon the day before the race. Winners will receive their finishing time and will be eligible for random raffle prizes at each event they attend. Runners are asked to check the registration table to see if they won anything before they leave.

Day of registration will be available at the race from 9-9:45 a.m. and the price will be $25. Races will be held on Jan. 7, 14, and 28, as well as on Feb. 18 and 25. Coffee and tea will be provided before and after each race, compliments of the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel. Water, sports drinks, and snacks will be provided after the race as well.
