RUSSELL — The Eisenhower Knights wasted little time welcoming the Iroquois Braves to their field yesterday when Logan Degnan scored just 25 seconds into the game giving the Knights an early lead 1-0 en route to an 8-2 Region 4 boys soccer victory.

The muddy field conditions did not slow the Knights as they pushed the ball into Iroquois territory the entire game.

The Braves broke free and pushed the ball into the Eisenhower half of the field and Patrick Kope scored on a kick just inside the left upright of the net to even the score at 1-1.

Degnan would strike again for his second goal — he tallied five goals in all on the day — just 18 seconds later to give the lead back to the home team.

It was a lead they would not lose.

The next goal for the Knights was due to their aggressive play. Eisenhower was bunched in front of the visitors’ net and the ball careened off of a visiting player’s leg and rolled into the net, putting the Knights up 3-1.

Bryceton Wilkins would score just before the half giving the Knights the 5-1 lead at the break.

The score would hold up until Degnan struck just 54 seconds into the second half on a nice assist from Austin Hannold to increase the lead.

Wilkins would score his second goal of the game to close out the Knights scoring at 8-1.

The Braves would score their final goal with just 31 seconds remaining when Brennan McWright connected.

Starting at $3.50/week.
