Youngsville opens its track & field season

CORRY — Tuesday night the Youngsville track and field team opened its season at the home of the Corry Beavers.
The Beavers dominated the Eagles, winning the girls meet 125-21 and the boys meet 195-36. Blake Myers earned 15 of the 36 points for the boys.
The female athletes from Corry showed their strength, sweeping all three throwing events, the shot put, javelin and discus.
For Youngsville, Andreya Curtin led the way, earning the Eagles 6 points by winning the high jump and placing third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 21.6 seconds.
Olivia Darling and Cassidy Britton each scored 4 points with Darling running her way to second place in the 100-meter hurdles at 20.6 seconds as well as placing third in 300-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.1 seconds. Britton, a standout for the Eagles in cross country, placed second in the 2-mile run, clocking in at 13:26.9 and third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:49.1.

Myers began his season impressively by earning first in high jump (5-9) to qualify for the District 10 championship, and also won the triple jump (38-4) and long jump (19-5.5).
Fellow teammate Koby Hendrickson shined in the hurdling events winning the 110-meter hurdles at 18.5 seconds as well as the 300-meter hurdles at 45.8 seconds.
Warren track sweeps Kane
WARREN SWEEPS
KANE — Warren’s track & field teams swept host Kane on Tuesday.
“Both boys and girls came away with victories today,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “We were glad to get a good start to the season. We had a handful of district qualifiers and a bunch that were really close. This is great this early in the year.”
In the Lady Dragons’ 104-44 win, Laney Gatto was a quadruple individual winner in the 100-meter dash (13.46 seconds), 200 (28.42), long jump (15-6.5 feet), and triple jump (34-7). Gracie Gatto won the 400 (1:09.75), Kirsten Johnson the 800 (2:42.95), and Shyann Rulander the 1,600 (5:54.45) and 3,200 (13:22.24). Aurora Feaster won the shot (27-10) and Izzy Heacox the high jump (4-2).
In the Warren boys’ 76-69 win, Ricky Madril won the javelin (131-3), Ben White the 100 dash (11.64), Hugh Harrison the 800 (2:15.17), Sam Lindell the 3,200 (10:52.24), Ethan Best the 110 hurdles (17.40) and 300 hurdles (44.02), and Justice Greene the discus (106-5).
Overall, Warren won five of six relays.
“Laney Gatto, Lindsay Madigan, Ben White, and Ethan Best all came away with district marks,” said Dustin. “Really proud of all the kids, stepping up and competing today.”
