Warren’s girls basketball team won its fourth straight Region 6 contest 43-31 on Monday over General McLane at Warren Area High School.
“It was grinder,” said Warren head coach Lisa LaVan, whose Dragons are 14-3 overall and 7-1 in the region. “We had to grind it out each possession. General McLane plays physically strong. We had open looks, but struggled to connect.”
Warren led 19-16 at halftime before senior Emma Ruhlman scored 11 of her game-high 19 points in a big 18-9 Dragons’ third quarter.
Ruhlman, an NCAA Division II Hillsdale College (Michigan) commit, surpassed 1,300 points and 800 rebounds in her high school career. She had seven rebounds and was 6 for 7 at the free-throw line Monday.
Again, Warren shined at the line (9 for 11) and on the boards. Halle Kuzminski grabbed 10 rebounds and Gracie Ruhlman added eight off the glass. Gracie Ruhlman and Riley Childress chipped in 10 points apiece. Childress and Emma Ruhlman were 4 for 4 at the line in the fourth.
