North Clarion, Smethport sweep Sheffield on Monday

SHEFFIELD — Sheffield’s varsity boys track and field team lost to North Clarion 79.5-61.5 and Smethport 80-61 on Monday.

The Wolverines girls were defeated by North Clarion 87-52 and Smethport 74-64.

Overall winners for the Sheffield boys were Garett Waters in the 300-meter hurdles with a winning time of 48.46 seconds, Jesse Campbell in the discus with a throw of 100 feet, 1 inch and Lucas McNeal in the high jump at a height of 5 feet, 8 inches.

On the girls side, Sheffield’s quartet of Emily Foster, Kassidy Orinko, Lexi Goldthwaite and Avery Dolos won the 400-meter relay with a time of 56.43. Emily Leichtenberger was a double winner, winning the discus with a throw of 91 feet, 7 inches and the javelin with a throw of 94 feet, 1 inch. Emily Foster, also a double winner in the jumps, winning the long jump with a jump of 13 feet, 7.5 inch and winning the high jump while achieving a new personal best with a height 5 feet, 1 inch. Rounding out the overall winners for the girls was Lexi Goldthwaite winning the triple jump with a leap of 28 feet, 7 inch.

The Wolverines hit the road next Tuesday, traveling to Port Allegany to take on the Gators and Otto Eldred in a tri-meet.
