Hunting licenses, DMAP tags available next week

Hunters heading to the Warren County Courthouse looking to buy licenses and apply for DMAP tags and landowner antlerless permits have been disappointed so far.

Warren County Treasurer Denny Munksgard said the COVID-19 pandemic caused those purchases and applications to be moved back.

They will be available on Monday.

“Normally, we would have started selling the 2020-2021 hunting licenses on June 15,” Munksgard said. “They moved it out a week. People have been coming in ever since.”

The application period has been pushed back, but there are deadlines, limited numbers of DMAP (Deer Management Assistance Program) tags and forthcoming applications that rely on having a hunting license in hand.

“People need to have their hunting license to apply for the antlerless license on Monday, July 13,” Munksgard said. Those applications are handled by mail in the official pink envelope.

“You can get a landowner doe license over the counter from June 22 through July 10,” he said. “Some DMAP areas will be limited. They can go online at midnight on the 22nd. Over the counter, we will start that during business hours on the 22nd.”

Those looking to visit the courthouse next week are reminded that “parking will be at a premium,” Munksgard said. “The courthouse parking lot will start to be replaced on June 22.”
