Biden’s empty promises Dear Editor, I have been reading the editorial section of this newspaper daily for approximately three years. Because this is an election year for the president of the United States, my interest in what has been published here has been elevated as a result. What I have read here is that mostly that President Donald Trump and his entire family are very bad and toxic in consistent lectures from the mass media and many of you regardless of his multiple undeniable accomplishments. He has done so despite his relatively short term in which further progress was ...

Overstating death figures

Dear Editor, Much has been written and more has been done about the current pandemic brought to us by the Chinese Communists. The facts as set out by the National Center for Health Statistics and available on every computer demonstrate that actual deaths from COVID-19 from Feb. 1 to Sept. 2 are much lower than the media has announced. The facts: only 6% of reported COVID deaths were actually from COVID, while 94% of the patients who died had contributing conditions and causes. What this means is that we shut down the entire economy of the United States over the deaths of 9,000 ...

Always adding up

Dear Editor, Donald J. Trump is a very wise and intelligent man. For instance, he disputes the professional advise of medical experts regarding COVID-19. He also has issues with renowned scientists regarding climate change which is melting glaciers at an alarming rate. He loves to call the media, except Fox News, as fake news. I’m certain he would disgree with mathematicians that 2 plus 2 does not equal 4. Yes, Trump is exceptionally wise and intelligent especially when it comes to Vladimir Putin. Oh my! M.J. Risking our futures Dear Editor, I appreciated a recent letter that brought up the promise of President Trump ande the Republican National Committee to end this payroll tax, which is the funding stream for Social Security. I would like to highlight what this would mean to people in this country. For the people who are 70, their benefits will end in 2023 when the fund depletes to zero. This fact has been verified by the chief actuary of the Social Security Administration in a letter to Senate Democrats who have asked him what would happen to Social Security beneifts. For people ...

So much for ‘civil discussion’

Dear Editor, It is difficult to know how to respond to the commentary (Sept. 7), when the ranting, exaggerated, emotional claims by the author are scarcely able to be responded to with intelligent, well reasoned arguments. That is, the writer clearly prefers hysterical terms such as “treasonous tyrannical Marxists” and “damn nasty conspirators” and “lying leaking liberals” when describing those who disagree with him rather than actually having a civil discussion. There is “free speech” and there is deliberate distortion in an attempt to provoke and misinform. Many ...

Circling the issues

Dear Editor, So after reading the latest article about how safe a roundabout can make an area, I couldn’t help but remember that the Warren Times Observer has already stated when all of this hoopla began that there were only I think three accidents at that particular intersection in 10 years with none of them being a fatality. So again I question the reasoning that this city wants to spend an extreme amount of money for something we don’t need? I realize maintenance and light bulbs for traffic lights might make a money difference in Lord knows how many years, but we might have ...
