‘Pray for the peace’ Dear Editor, It’s amazing that as of 2023, the world’s core Jewish population (those identifying as Jews above all else) was estimated at 15.7 million, which is approximately 0.2% of the 8 billion worldwide population. The Jewish population in Israel itself is 7,181,000. In those Nations immediately surrounding Israel there are 371,000,000 Muslims of multiple ethnic backgrounds. Risks with Biden Dear Editor, President Joe Biden served 36 years in the Senate then eight years as vice president. He illegally removed classified documents as he left those offices. Some were stored in damaged cardboard boxes in a vulnerable garage. Special counsel Robert Hur recommended no charges as Biden is a “well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.” But these removals go back at least 15 years; was he elderly and memory-impaired then? Rental rebuttal Dear Editor, This letter is in response to the recent article regarding short-term rental regulations and ordinances in the Times Observer. Extensive coverage was given to Arthur Stewart and his emphatic, unfortunately ill-informed understanding of the impacts of short-term rentals. I’m under the impression he has not done any home purchasing or rental searching in recent years. If he did, he’d find perhaps a dozen apartment rentals monthly on Zillow for a population of 15,000 people. Poor people don’t own multiple homes, they don’t own Airbnbs. Airbnbs steal ...
