Gary Hanson

Gary L. Hanson, Sr., 59, of Chapman Dam Road, Clarendon, PA, died after an extended illness Saturday, April 25, 2020 at home. Born April 1, 1961, in Smethport, PA, he was the son of the late George Hanson, Sr. and Rose Farren Hanson. Gary was employed for many years at Segel and Son in Warren. He married Beverly Haight Hanson at Chapman Dam in 2002 (his companion of 32 years). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Tina Hanson Morey. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 6 children, Christina (Gene Charette) Hanson of South Dakota, Richard Hanson of Warren, Jessica (Ed Lauffenberger) Klein of Warren, Cassie (Jake Jackson) Haight of Clarendon, Ashley (Danney) Ringer of Warren, Gary (Kimberly) Hanson II of Clarendon; 3 brothers, Charles Hanson of Clarendon, George (Pamela) Hanson, Jr. of Clarendon and Walter (Teresa Evans) Hanson of Jamestown, NY; 16 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Gary enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and camping. He loved being around people and all of his family. Gary would want everyone to remember him for his smiles, not tears of sorrow. He would want for his life to live on in the campfires we smell, an his life story be told by the tales we all will tell around it. His life was full of great family and good friends. He was a man that would stand up when most would sit down. He would help someone in need, even if he was in need himself. He wasn’t fast to judge and gave just everyone a first chance. His pride was his children, whether they were by blood or by choice and his “JOY” was his grandchildren. His wife was his everything! He would not want us to grieve and be sad. He would want us to just gather up some wood and have a campfire and remember him; and when the sun paints the sky in the west, stand for a moment and feel him beside you and remember only his best.
