Josephine Frisina
Josephine A. Frisina, 91, of , Corry, Pa., died on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Corry Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 20, 1923, in Tidioute, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph and Concietta Yoculan Frisina.
Josephine was raised and educated in Tidioute, where she graduated from high school. As a young woman, she served with the U.S. Army during WWII. She was in the Women’s Army Corps Service (WACS) from April 1945 to November 1946. Following her discharge, she moved to Corry and was a partner in Connie’s Superette. The store was in operation in the Corry area for over 50 years.
She was a very active member of St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church and the St. Elizabeth Ladies’ Guild. Josephine served on various committees over the years including the cemetery board and the Parish council. She was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #365 in Corry. Josephine was known for her extensive decorating for all holiday seasons. She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her family and many close friends.
In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded by five sisters, Margaret Frisina, Mary Toto, Helen Shira, Julia Staub and Grace Bensink; two brothers, Angelo and Francis “Frank” Frisina; a dear friend, Georgia “Jody” Cottle and a beloved niece, Mary Jo Shira Stranahan.
Josephine is survived by a brother Joseph Frisina and his wife Martha of Tidioute, Pa.; and by over 100 nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. There will be a Prayer Vigil for the Deceased Monday at 7:30 pm. A Prayers at the Transfer of the Body to the Church will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30 am., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, 26 W. Pleasant St., Corry, Pa., at 10 am. Reverend Mark A. Hoffman, Pastor of St. Thomas Church/St. Elizabeth Church, presiding.
Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
