UPDATE: Thompson ‘thankful’ for return to U.S. House
WASHINGTON — Republican Rep. Glenn Thompson won re-election to a U.S. House seat representing Pennsylvania on Tuesday. Thompson, 65, was running for a ninth term in his heavily Republican district in northern Pennsylvania. Thompson beat Democrat Zach Womer. Thompson, who has served as House Agriculture Committee chairman, was first elected in 2008.
Prior to being elected to Pennsylvania’s geographically largest congressional district, Thompson spent 28 years as a therapist, rehabilitation services manager, and a licensed nursing home administrator.
Thompson was joined by friends, family, and supporters for an election night celebration at the Nittany Lion Inn in State College.
After learning the election results, Thompson released the following statement:
“I am so thankful for the volunteers and supporters who have made this victory possible. This election was about hard work, determination, and providing the voters a clear vision for the road ahead.
“From Kittanning to Selinsgrove, from Warren to State College, and every town and municipality in between, the hardworking families of Pennsylvania recognize this election has been a choice between higher prices and handouts or unlocking America’s true economic potential.
“We still have a lot of work to do and I look forward to addressing these challenges as your voice and vote in Washington.”
Through his professional experiences, Thompson has touched the lives of thousands of individuals facing life-altering conditions.
As a result, he has learned firsthand the importance of access to quality healthcare and has become a strong advocate for increased access, affordability, quality of care, and patient choice.
Thompson made a stop in Warren County during the campaign in early October.
