County Dems to hold ‘Harvest of Hope Gala’ next month

About 40 days remain until this November’s General Election.

The county’s Democrats are holding a “Harvest of Hope Gala” aimed at engaging more voters as Election Day approaches.

The event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Conewango Club.

“Our immediate goal for the evening is to encourage more voters to get involved in this year’s campaign, as well as moving forward,” Katherine Bowley with the county’s Democratic Committee said.

“We have a plan to engage the guests that night in certain activities to promote interaction, and to complement the promotion we have speakers addressing critical issues.”

Confirmed speakers will include Butler County Commissioner Kevin Boozel, who attended the Democratic National Convention, as well as Zach Womer, who is running against Congressman Glenn Thompson in the 15th Congressional District.

Pa. House Speaker Joanna McClinton is sending a personal video to the county on the issue of reproductive rights and Bowley said they’ve invited Gov. Shapiro, but won’t know whether he can make it until closer to the event.

“We are calling it the Harvest of Hope Gala because of our goals,” Bowley said, with emphasis on harvesting community, knowledge, skill sets, campaign involvement, views and finances.

“The guests will have the opportunity to take part in each of these areas via different activities throughout the evening,” she said. “We want to get more young people involved and encourage their participation….

“We are trying to make it a positive, joyful, and unified evening.”
