Childrens’ books have come alive this week throughout Warren.

At the Warren Public Library’s Children’s Department this week, visitors from the cast of Charlotte’s Web, including Chalina Abreu, who plays Charlotte, shared the story ‘Is that Wise Pig?’ by Jan Thomas. The book is about a pig who adds odd ingredients to the soup while helping his friends make it.

The reading ties in with the ongoing story walk featuring Pete the Cat. ‘Pete the Cat and the Perfect Pizza Party’ by Kimberly and James Dean has a similar plot. Pete invites friends to bring pizza toppings, creating a fun and interactive experience for families.

Families and children still have time to participate in the story walk. The walk takes place along Second Avenue and both sides of Liberty Street. Participants can pick up the story walk packets in the Children’s Department or download them on the website. Pictures from the book are posted in the windows of participating local businesses on Liberty Street and Second Avenue.

The walk can be completed until July 15, and the completed forms should be returned to the Warren Library by July 20. The first 100 children who submit the form by the due date will receive a goody bag and be entered into a drawing. Thirteen winners will be randomly drawn and notified on July 23. Twelve children will win a gift bag, and one will win a grand prize of a large gift basket.

Photos provided to the Times Observer Eliot and Nora Carlson enjoy the Story Walk, finding all of the pages of ‘Pete the Cat and the Perfect Pizza’ downtown as part of the Warren Public Library Children’s Department programming.

Reading Wednesday sessions are held at 10:30 a.m. in the Children’s Department of the Warren Public Library. Ms. Kelley leads interactive story time and crafts sessions, suitable for ages 4 to 8 but inclusive for any age. Upcoming sessions are scheduled for July 17, 24, and 31.

Starting at $2.99/week.
