Chamber accepting community service award nominations

Times Observer file photo Paul Pascuzzi was presented with the 2023 Community Service Award. Nominations are currently being accepted for the award’s 2024 presentation in October.

Each year, the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry honors a community champion with its Community Service Award.

If you know someone worthy, now is the time to make that nomination.

“The Community Service Award demonstrates a servant’s heart,” Savannah Casey, WCCBI director of operations, said. “Meaning it’s a way of life that involves putting others’ needs before your own and serving with the right motivation.

“It’s the opportunity to highlight a leader who sets a positive example by being accountable for their actions and following through on their commitments to help other people and organizations achieve their goals by being a servant leader. someone who rolls up their sleeves and does what’s needed.”

She said that “a lot of work” goes on behind the scenes in Warren County, “much of which many people do not realize.

“This is a prime opportunity to recognize one such individual and thank them for their commitment to our community.”

The award was first presented to Judge Alexander Flick in 1969 and has been awarded every year except 1975 and 2020.

Recipients since 2010 include Pat Evans, John Hanna, Linda Keverline, Murray McComas, Bob Sokolski, Olivia Sechriest, Jean Walker, Dan Glotz, Lincoln Sokolski, Thad Turner, Ash Khare, Gary and Penny Lester, and Piper VanOrd.

Paul Pascuzzi was the 2023 recipient.

“That’s quite the list of individuals, each adding their uniqueness to the award,” Casey said. “They all go above and beyond the normal call of duty and have dedicated much of their lives to Warren County, making significant positive impacts that have somehow touched all of our lives in one way or another.”

Nomination letters can be emailed to Casey – szimmerman@wccbi.org – or mailed to the WCCBI by Sept. 2.

There are several nomination criteria – that the individual has lived in Warren County for more than 10 years and is likely to remain here, contributes to the county outside of professional obligations and will continue to do so and is respected around the county to “keep the award prestigious and a compliment to past recipients.”

Casey said the 2024 award will be presented at the WCCBI’s Celebration of Excellence event on Oct. 24 at the Timber Haven Event Center at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

Starting at $3.50/week.
