A teacher at Eisenhower Middle High School has been recognized by the Warren/Forest Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.

Erin Richardson was presented with the Lauretta Woodson Award during Monday night’s school board meeting.

Gloria Werner with the local PASR chapter told the board that Richardson was selected from between six and eight nominees.

A middle school math teacher, Werner highlighted Richard’s success at piloting math programs that have been successful, being a “significant player” in the schools Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS program as well as starting a middle level PTO and middle level student council at Eisenhower.

“Keep up the good work,” Werner said.

According to PASR, the “purpose of the Lauretta Woodson Recognition Program is to honor” teachers and support staff “for doing an outstanding job within a district or school. Chapters select the award recipients and then present them with a medallion, certificate and PASR pin.”

According to PASR, Dr. Lauretta Woodson began her teaching career in the 1950s in the Eddystone School District before teaching at Temple University, retiring in the mid-1980s.

“Since joining the state association as a life member in 1988, Dr. Woodson rose through the ranks of PASR and assumed many esteemed positions within the organization, and was instrumental in helping PASR to become what it is today,” the organization states.
