Cambridge Warren closing by year’s end
Cambridge Warren will close at the end of the year.
According to a post on social media from the Rouse Estate, a competing care facility, Cambridge Warren at 706 Pennsylvania Ave. W. will shut its doors effective Dec. 31.
“With great sympathy, the Rouse would like to address the news of the closure of Cambridge Warren Senior Living, effective December 31,” the post reads. “As a fellow provider in the long-term care community, we recognize the challenges and emotions associated with such decisions and the impact they will have on residents, their families, and the dedicated staff.”
A representative of Cambridge Warren said the facility had no comment at this time.
A request for comment was forwarded to Carpe VITA Senior Living CEO Mary Walka. Carpe VITA took over management of the facility earlier this year.
According to the representative, “She’s the only one who can comment at this time.”
Posts circulated on social media from Erie-area news sources report residents were provided a letter notifying them of the closure. Residents were given 30 days notice to terminate their leases.
Cambridge Warren’s parent company, Cambridge Retirement Living, operates seven other facilities in Pennsylvania in Beaver, Corry, Ebensburg, Larksville, Wampum and two in the PIttsburgh area.
Information on the exact number of residents and employees impacted was unavailable.
Numerous social media posts expressed sadness over the closing and questioned where residents will go.
According to the Rouse Estate’s post, “Our commitment to the well-being of seniors extends beyond the walls of our own facilities, and we want to assure the residents and families impacted by this closure that we are here to offer support during this time of change. We recognize the importance of continuity of care and the emotional ties formed within a residential care setting. We assure the community that the Rouse is committed to supporting those affected by the closure of Cambridge.
“The Suites at Rouse has immediate availability and our personal care staff are prepared to assist residents with a smooth transition, offering our services and expertise to ensure their ongoing care needs are met. Our team is ready to collaborate with the residents and their appropriate parties, including healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members, to facilitate a seamless transfer for those affected.
“We also extend our support to the dedicated staff of Cambridge Warren Senior Living, recognizing the significant contributions they have made to the well-being of their residents. We understand that such transitions can be challenging, and Cambridge employees open to exploring opportunities for employment at the Rouse are encouraged to contact our HR Department.”
