RDA approves sales agreement for Laurel St. property
A property tied up for years as a result of drug forfeiture gone wrong has finally been sold.
414 Laurel St. was one of three properties handed over as part of a drug case in 2016. It took years to unscramble ownership until the property was transferred to the City of Warren’s Redevelopment Authority earlier this year.
Director of Codes and Planning Randy Rossey said Whirley Industries expressed an interest in purchasing the property.
In addition to the $1,000 price, Rossey outlined two additional stipulations of the sale – that Whirley replace the sidewalk within one year and that they also apply to have the property rezoned.
The RDA approved their end of the sale during Wednesday’s meeting.
The RDA also approved a $10,000 reimbursement to Kurt Smith for his participation in the facade improvement program regarding his property across the street from the city building on the corner of Third Ave. and Hickory St.
Administrative Assistant Cassie Damcott said Smith was eligible for $10,000 in reimbursement because he completed facade work on two sides of the building.
