Reassessment data collection focuses on north county

Times Observer photo by Josh Cotton Warren County Planner Dan Glotz presents the comprehensive plan to the county commissioners, who approved the plan, during Wednesday’s meeting.

The data collection element of the county property reassessment process is working its way through northern Warren County.

Chief Assessor Brian Bull updated the commissioners on the status of the seven-figure process during Wednesday’s meeting.

Bull said that residential and agricultural assessments are done in Southwest, Eldred and Spring Creek townships with crews currently wrapping up Columbus Township, Bear Lake Borough and Freehold Township.

Data collectors will then “continue across the northern tier” to Sugar Grove Township, Sugar Grove Borough and Farmington Township.

S”The data collection is looking good,” Bull said.

He added that the contractor for the project, Vision Government Services, has hired more data collectors with 10 and a crew chief currently in the field. He said a data entry person would be brought on board in the near future, as well.

Bull also said that residential collection is complete in the City of Warren with crews slated to come back to assess commercial and industrial properties later in the process.

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN APPROVED

The commissioners also formally approved the county’s comprehensive plan during Wednesday’s meeting

County Planner Dan Glotz stressed that the plan is implementable and outlines three major points that “came out in the process” – the importance of a healthy economy, high quality of life and being a beautiful place to visit.

“Each of these has a goal,” he said, as well as specific objectives.

He added that the implementation of the plan is detailed in a spreadsheet in the document.

“This is the product of several months worth of work,” Glotz said. “It is now ready for the commissioners to consider adoption via resolution.

The commissioners unanimously approved a resolution adopting the plan.
