The Pennsylvania School Bus Association recently presented D&R Transportation its Silver Bus Award in recognition of 25 years of dedicated service to the school bus industry.

D&R Transportation is owned and operated by David and Robin Taydus, who have been driving buses for 35 years. They purchased their first two buses in 1997 and were working with only a two-stall garage.

In 2013, D&R purchased a garage and bus fleet of 29 in Corry, Pa., and, in 2016, purchased a garage and bus fleet of 22 in Russell, Pa.

Dave and Robin were the first two drivers for D&R and started out with five employees. Daughter Natalie Lucks came on board helping with office work and doing payroll along with her husband, Charlie Lucks, doing mechanical work.

“Little did we know that we would grow to where we are today,” David and Robin said.

Dave and Robin now own and operate 70 school buses and 40 student vans. They are also certified school bus instructions along with two of their employees.

“Not only does our daughter and son-in-law help in running the business our four grandchildren Elizabeth, Derek, Nathan, and Racahel Lucks also have a huge part in help in operating the family business,” the company said. “We couldn’t do it without them.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
