Warren finishes second in High School Bowl

The team from Fredonia Central School won the 61st annual High School Bowl championship, defeating Warren Area High School 126-71 at SUNY Jamestown Community College. The match aired recently on Media One radio stations WJTN and WWSE in Jamestown.

Fredonia finished the season undefeated in six matches. Team captain Rebecca Lash and teammate Ray Dai were named Players of the Match. The rest of the Fredonia team consisted of Joella Bauza, Matt Schrantz, Patrick Cotter, Jacob Sullivan, and coach Kerry Sweatman.

Warren completed a 6-2 season behind a team of captain Kaden Kelly-Pojar, Lydia Balas, Shyann Rulander, Ruby Alburger, Ashley Plant, Hailey Brush, Jadzia Johnson, and coach Nick Haught.

The Jamestown Community College Alumni Association will present a $1,000 scholarship to one Fredonia student for each of two years of college at JCC. The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation granted a $500 scholarship to Warren.

Twenty schools from southwestern New York and northwestern Pennsylvania competed in High School Bowl this year.

High School Bowl moderator Wendy Dyment is a teacher at Cassadaga Valley Central School. The program is produced by Media One’s Dennis Webster, with technical operations provided by Brian Papalia from the Chautauqua County Humane Society and Media One Group radio.
