Philharmonic to present ‘Serendipitous: A Mother’s Day Celebration’

The Warren Philharmonic will present “Serendipitous: A Mother’s Day Celebration” at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 14, at Warren Area High School.

Musical Director and Conductor Bryan Eckenrode will lead the orchestra in “L’Arlesienne Suite No. 1” by Georges Bizet, “Pizzicato Tango” by Alan Perry, “Goyescas” by E. Granados, and “Frankie and Johnnie” by Maurice C. Whitney.

Soloist Lauren Hiller will perform “O mio babbino cara” by Puccini and “Villia” from the operetta “The Merry Widow” by Franz Lehar.

“Lauren Hiller is a classically trained vocalist who earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Lamar University in 2014,” according to President Brenda Schnick. “She is currently a member of Serendipity, the Chautauqua Chamber Singers, and the CMP Chorale. She has appeared multiple times as a soloist for the Warren Philharmonic.”

Serendipity, a nine-woman a cappella singing ensemble from Jamestown, N.Y., will also be part of the performance.

“Our guest artists, Serendipity, will perform three selections with the orchestra: “By Night” by Elaine Hagenberg, “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” from the musical “State Fair” by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein”, and a medley from the musical “Momma Mia” featuring the music of Abba,” Schnick said.

Tickets will be available at the door starting at 3:15 on the day of the performance. They will be $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and free for children 11 and under.
