The Warren Unified track and field team hosted their one and only meet this season as they welcomed the Corry Beavers to War Memorial Field on Monday.
“Overall, we had a great turnout for our first home track meet,” said head coach Cayla Onoratti. “Everyone is stepping up and helping contribute this season, both on the track and in the field. We have one regular season meet left, then will travel to regionals next week. We are looking forward to a rematch with Corry on Thursday.”
The Dragons had many strong performances in the outing, and they keep improving from meet to meet. First-place finishers in their divisions were as follows: Isaac Zapel, Noel Ireland and Ryder Check, 100 meters; Attie Corey and Hemi Baran, 400 meters; Peyton Vincent and Loralei Johnson, long jump; Check, javelin; Zapel and Corey, shot put; Zapel, Colton Ristau, Peyton Horner and Sophia Fromknecht, 400-meter relay team.
Dropping times in the contest were: Peyton Cabisca, Check, Jacobs Elmquist, Julia Getner, Horner, Eliana Retterer, Zapel, Baran and Corey.
“Thank you to the Warren varsity track athletes and coaches for helping run our meet today, along with the Warren Sports Boosters for donating all entry fees,” Onoratti added. “Our community should be proud that the Warren County School District has multiple opportunities for every student to participate in athletics. Unified sports has been such a blessing, and I cannot wait to see how our season finishes out.”
