Warren man charged with aggravated assault
A Warren man allegedly pointed a gun at a woman’s head and told her he was going to kill her and her whole family.
Tyler E. Howard, 21, of Warren, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and a summary traffic offense.
According to City of Warren Police, a woman was in a vehicle talking with Howard at about 10:30 p.m. Monday.
She told police Howard, “retrieved a black and silver 9mm handgun from the trunk and loaded it in front of her,” according to the affidavit of probable cause. “The victim stated the defendant then pointed the firearm at her head and stated he was going to kill her and her entire family.”
“The victim was able to escape form the vehicle… and ran to the Warren Police Department,” according to the affidavit. She knocked on the door at 10:38 p.m., police said.
Police located the vehicle on Pennsylvania Avenue near Liberty Street and Howard was taken into custody at 11:52 p.m., according to the affidavit.
Howard was arraigned Tuesday morning before District Judge Daniel Miller and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $100,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4.
