Conservation District announces scholarships

The 2026 Warren County Conservation District awarded three scholarships recently to area high schoolers. These include the Ralph G. Eckert Scholarship, the Warren County Council of Sportsmen’s Clubs Scholarship and the Heather Wilcox Scholarship.

The recipients for this year’s Ralph G. Eckert Scholarship went to Bryceton Maille, Jacob Retterer and Loralei Johnson. Maille will attend Pennsylvania College of Technology to major in Forest Technology, Retterer will attend Waynesburg University to major in Environmental Science, and Johnson will attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree. The Conservation District awards the Ralph G. Eckert Scholarship each year to deserving Warren County students pursuing a conservation related degree. The scholarship was established as a memorial to Ralph G. Eckert, who served in the Soil Conservation Service from 1950-1966.

The Warren County Council of Sportsmen’s Clubs Scholarship was presented to Bryceton Maille, Retterer and Johnson. The Warren County Council of Sportsmen’s Clubs Scholarship is awarded to a deserving Warren County High School student pursuing an environmental or conservation related degree.

The Heather Wilcox Scholarship was presented to Ariel Ludwick, Johnson and Isabelle McMonigal. Ludwick will attend Bloomsburg University to major in Media and Journalism and McMonigal will attend Penn State University to major in Pre-Veterinary & Biomedical Sciences. This scholarship was established as a memorial to Wilcox, who served as the Warren County Conservation District Manager for many years and devoted her entire life to agriculture and conservation.

The Heather Wilcox Scholarship is awarded to a deserving student pursuing a degree in an agricultural related field or service.
