EMS proposal comes into focus in southeast
A group of municipalities in the southeast part of the county continue to evaluate proposals for day-time ambulance coverage.
Clarendon Borough as well as Mead, Pleasant, Cherry Grove and Sheffield townships banded together earlier this year to form a multi-municipal EMS commission.
Clarendon Borough President Paul Pascuzzi said during Wednesday’s Council of Government’s meeting in Youngsville that “those five municipalities have reviewed proposal by EmergyCare and the City of Warren to provide 12-hour coverage during the day” in those municipalities.
He said the next step was to ask for a more formal quote to be presented at a meeting later this month.
Pascuzzi said the county’s ambulance providers sans the City of Warren are planning to kick-off a new response plan in October.
The plan is aimed at ensuring more consistent staffing throughout the county.
The COG also discussed ongoing efforts to formalize their entity. Nearly half of the county’s municipalities have formally agreed to join.
Those include Mead, Clarendon, Pleasant and Youngsville that were the first four. Since then, Watson, Limestone, Pine Grove, Tidioute, Columbus, Cherry Grove, Elk, Sheffield and Glade have joined by resolution.
The county has also joined and County Planner Dan Glotz said Farmington would be joining as well.
“We believe more are coming in,” Alan Kugler, the COG’s consultant said.
Representatives from about half a dozen municipalities were present Wednesday so no action was taken to elect officers. The group decided to wait until 2023 to initiate that process.
