Music on the Mountain is this week and the bands are rolling in.
The event will be from 7 to about 8:30 p.m. Friday at Sheffield Area High School.
“The weather looks like it’s going to be great,” Chairman Art Lane said.
The show, featuring four drum and bugle corps, will start promptly, and there will be no intermission.
“We’re encouraging people to come when the gates open at 4:30 and use the concession stand,” Lane said.
Advance ticketsare available in Sheffield at Peterson Hardware and Sheffield Pharmacy and in Warren at Crone’s for $14 for adults and $11 for students. Tickets are also available online at smotm.org. Tickets will be available at the gate for $15 and $12, respectively.
As of Monday, there had been over 300 advance tickets sold.
For those who would like a taste of the event before the competition, each of the bands will be practicing locally.
Raiders, of Trenton, N.J., and Spartans, of Nashua, N.H., will arrive on Wednesday. Raiders will practice at the ballfield near Tidioute Community Charter School. Spartans will get to work on the football field in Sheffield.
Southwind, of Mobile, Ala., and Legends, of Kalamazoo, Mich., will arrive Thursday. Southwind’s practice site is in Kane. Legends will work at East Forest High School in Marienville.
The public is welcome at those practices — which go on all day. Distractions and interruptions are not welcome.
