The Touch A Truck event brought 1,800 people to Betts Park to mingle with dozens of trucks and their drivers.

“It was a day filled with excitement, as children of all ages were able to climb aboard their favorite vehicles, interact with the drivers, eat their favorite foods, and participate in lots of fun activities,” Jefferson DeFrees Family Center Executive Director Melinda Johnson said.

The event was sponsored by JDFC and featured numerous community partners.

“Special thanks to our sponsors: Highmark BCBS, United Refining Company/Kwik Fill, Northwest, Superior Tire, Whirley Drinkworks, Crossett Inc., Casella, Lytle’s Car Clinic, PNC, Ed Shults Auto Group, Jones Chevrolet Buick GMC, and PGE,” she said. “Thank you to all of the drivers for their time and vehicles.”

The event also brought a pile of donations to the Warren County Food Pantry and help for JDFC.

“Participants coming to Touch A Truck were asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Warren County Food Pantry,” Johnson said. “The proceeds are used to fund the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library literacy program, and to enhance the programming at the JDFC.”
