Local High School senior accepts appointment to West Point

Congressman Glenn Thompson has announced that Warren Area High School senior Samuel Harvey has accepted a fully qualified appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

“Samuel has been a leader in the classroom, on the football field, and in the community. His passion for service to others and a determination to succeed will serve him well at the United States Military Academy,” Thompson said.

“I wish Samuel all the best as he begins a new chapter at West Point.”

Harvey is the son of Sam and Rachel Harvey.

He is the grandson of Samuel and Kathy Harvey of Manassas, Va., and George and Ruby Sakai of Topeka, Kan. He has three siblings — Sarah, Annabelle, and John Harvey.

Harvey serves as Senior Class Vice President, is a member of the National Honor Society, and is active in his church, St. Joseph Parish in Warren. He is also a member of the football team, an accomplished powerlifter, and a student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

He also serves as the junior council member on Warren City Council.
