When there are eggs and candy for the taking, a little crummy weather isn’t near enough to dampen a child’s spirit.

Such was the case at an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at Betts Park.

Warren’s Junior Fire & EMS Explorer Post partnered with the Warren County Chamber of Business & Industry and the Housing Authority of Warren County to hold the hunt.

The lucky winner for the day was Scarlett Moore, who walked away with a 5-pound chocolate egg donated by Homer’s Subs and More.

Seth Mocny and his family won the Chief Cornplanter Council’s basket raffle.

“We’d like to thank all the vendors that stuck through the rainy weather with us, and the families that braved the rain to come participate and have fun with us,” Savannah Casey said.

“A special thanks to Nancy Bullock for her assistance in stuffing over 2,000 plastic eggs,” she added, as well as “Ruth BarnesShaw, Richard McKee and Ryan Casey for their assistance in putting eggs out and helping with crowd control, and to all the sponsors who made donations.

“Events like this are only made possible by the continued support of the community.”

She said this will be the Explorer Post’s last year hosting the event and asked anyone interested in continuing the tradition to call her at (814) 723-3050.

Starting at $3.50/week.
