Warren County Pride, Struthers to host film fest
Warren County Pride and the Struthers Library Theatre will present an LGBTQ+ Film Festival this summer.
Warren County Pride announced the plans for the event, set for June, in a Monday release. Teams from Pride and the theater are working together on the event, according to the release.
“The teams will work closely to showcase at least five films in this inaugural and timely event honoring the LGBTQ+ community,” according to the release from Pride Vice-President Jill Sumner.
“Struthers Library Theatre’s mission is to entertain, enrich and educate the people of Warren County and the surrounding region in all the qualities and delights of live theatre, music, dance, and film,” according to the theater team. “In partnering with Warren County Pride, we celebrate the profound contributions of our LGBTQ+ community to the arts. Our culture is made more beautiful and rich through diversity and inclusivity.”
The festival is scheduled to coincide with Warren County Pride Day – June 18, at Betts Park.
“Warren County Pride Day is an inclusive all-ages family event celebrating diversity and promoting equality, acceptance, tolerance, and love throughout Warren County,” according to the release.
In 2021, the event drew about 1,000 people from all over the region and featured a visit from Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.
“We are looking forward to working with the historic Struthers Library Theatre on Warren County’s first LGBTQ+ film festival in the week prior to Warren County Pride,” Pride Team member Douglas Hearn said. “This partnership is historic and supports the initiatives of a welcoming community for all.”
