Arrested man jailed, and charged with rape

A Warren man was taken to Warren County jail on Monday charged with rape.

David L. Matteson, 38, of Warren, is charged with rape – forcible compulsion, sexual assault, indecent assault – without consent, simple assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and harassment.

According to City of Warren Police, Matteson was involved in a domestic dispute with a female victim at about 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27.

“During the argument, the defendant took a dresser drawer and threw it at her, attempting to hit her,” according to the affidavit of probable cause. “He began aggressively approaching her, at which time she felt threatened and punched him in the face.”

The alleged victim was able to get out of the residence, according to the affidavit.

“After further speaking with the victim, it was discovered that the defendant had had non-consensual sex (that morning) with the victim and continued even after she had told him to stop multiple times,” according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, while on the phone with police, Matteson said, “She said to stop and I didn’t. I was wrong.”

Matteson was arraigned Monday before District Judge Todd Woodin and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $50,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12.

Starting at $4.00/week.
