Santa’s Workshop fundraiser to benefit Toy Shoppe
The North Pole Workshop just isn’t big enough to fulfill billions of orders.
On Saturday, Santa’s Workshop in Warren County — at the Toy Shoppe on Warren State Hospital grounds — will host a special event.
As a fundraiser for the Toy Shoppe, which operates there crafting toys for kids in need year-round, not just for Christmas, families will visit with the leadership team and a variety of helpers at the workshop.
“Kids will have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and Santa’s elves,” Warren County YMCA Family and Youth Sports Coordinator Andrew Papalia said. “Just putting joy on kid’s faces… it’s well worth it.”
The event is a cooperative undertaking of the Toy Shoppe, the Warren Kiwanis Club, the YMCA, and the North Pole.
The Beaty Builders Club will be helping out — there is much to do in Santa’s workshops in December.
The Workshop will provide a peek at what goes on in the shop in preparation for Christmas.
Visitors may “paint cookies with Mrs. Claus or help assemble some toys for children,” Papalia said.
The visitors will not walk out of the Workshop with toys, but the elves will work on something for each that can be picked up later at the Warren YMCA.
The ticket price of $25 per family benefits the Toy Shoppe. “It’s phenomenal what they do,” Papalia said. “They spend their time to provide toys for kids in need, the give them the best Christmas they can. It’s an honor that I can be a part of this event.”
The elves don’t want their secrets to be spread too fast, and the limited spaces available have sold out.
Papalia said the organizations plan to make the event an annual one and will arrange a waiting list for those who would like to participate in the future.
Registration will be available through the YMCA website at warrenymca.org.
