Crisis team will be available to local parents
The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is responding to Warren County following a week in which two high school students lost their lives.
“They’re going to be bringing a crisis team from the Center for Community Resources,” according to Warren County School District Superintendent Amy Stewart.
The team will hold meetings with parents to discuss parent concerns.
“They’re going to be holding three meetings within our community next week,” Stewart said.
The meeting schedule is:
¯ 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at the WCSD Central Office in Russell;
¯ 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Sheffield Area Middle High School; and
¯ 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Warren Area High School.
“These meetings are for parents,” Stewart said. “The purpose is to go over signs and symptoms for parents to look for in their children. Some ideas on what to say, how to say it, hotline numbers.”
According to its website, the “Center for Community Resources (CCR) was created in 2002 to provide assistance to the community through a single point of contact.”
“Since its inception, CCR has expanded their service territory to include all counties in Pennsylvania,” according to the website. “We provide Pennsylvanians a choice for the supports and service coordination needed to make a positive difference in everyday lives. CCR connects people to a network of supports and services essential for actively learning, working, and living in the community.”
“CCR provides supportive services for individuals and families seeking information, referral, and service coordination. Areas include mental health, intellectual disabilities, substance abuse and other human service needs. We work in collaboration with other human service agencies; identifying needs in the community and effectively responding to locate, coordinate, and monitor services.”
