State police to run checkpoint over weekend

Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint sometime over the holiday weekend as part of efforts to combat impaired driving.

In addition to announcing the checkpoint, troopers also wanted to remind the public about the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

“The problem continues to persist, causing needless deaths every year,” Cpl. Noelle Schad said in a statement. “We would like to tell everyone that if you plan on drinking alcohol, designate a sober driver.”

The checkpoint will occur sometime between Nov. 26 and Nov. 28 and is meant to “deter” driving under the influence.

“We would also like to caution about the use of legal and illegal drugs,” Schad explained. “Even the use of prescription drugs can… render an operator incapable of safe vehicle operation.

“Please keep yourself and other(s) safe. Don’t drink and drive.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
