Four more deaths, 55 new cases reported in county

Four COVID-related deaths were added to Warren County’s toll on Wednesday.

There have been eight deaths in the county reported in the last week.

As of Thursday, Oct. 28, the Pennsylvania Department of Health was reporting 124 deaths. One was added in the Oct. 29 report, another on Monday, two on Tuesday, and four on Wednesday.

The department reported 55 new cases in the county on Wednesday, bringing the total to 4,199.

Of that total, 3,419 are confirmed and 780 are probables.

There were six cases among children under five and 17 from ages five to 18 in the week from Oct. 20 to 26. Since Aug. 16, there have been 32 cases in children under five and and 211 in children ages five to 18 in the county.

There were 764 new total cases in October. That is second only to the 1,171 in December, 2020.

According to the department, 15,784 county residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and another 2,399 are partially vaccinated. The 18,183 residents who are at least partially vaccinated represent 46.5 percent of the population and 53.3 percent of the population that is eligible (ages 12 and up).

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows higher numbers of vaccinated residents, with 17,412 fully vaccinated and 22,140 having had at least one dose. According to CDC, 56.5 percent of the county population and 64.7 percent of those 12 and up, has had at least one dose.

About 94.5 percent of residents ages 65 and over are at least partially vaccinated, according to CDC.

Warren County is an area of high community transmission, according to CDC. Three Pennsylvania counties are listed as areas of substantial community transmission. All of the others are in the high category.
