The contest is open to students in the Warren County School District central attendance area in grades three through 12.

Third- and fourth-graders in Rebecca Downey’s writing enrichment group responded to the question: How can we address the health and well-being of veterans, military, and their families?

The winners of the contest for the third and fourth grade level were: Ashton Carrington, third grade, first place; Carissa Smith, fourth grade, second place; Carly Olsen, third grade, third place tie; and Gaven Mealy, fourth grade, third place tie.

Students received certificates and cash awards.

“Congratulations to these students for their effort, creativity, and for this writing accomplishment,” Downey said.
