Elementary students debut their writing skills

Students from Warren Area Elementary Center will soon be published authors.

Third and fourth graders in Rebecca Downey’s writing enrichment group entered the Young Writers Contest’s “A Wander in the Woods” and “Peculiar Pet Poems.”

The Young Writers Contest selected 27 of the 100-word, mini-saga, fiction Wander in the Woods works from WAEC: Katelyn Jurkowski, Delaney Moore, Ty Bryan, Addison Johnson, Gavin Chapman, Ellise Wilson, Clayton Hammerbeck, Sorren Check, Lillian Wellner, Asher Franklin, Ashton Carrington, Liam Buck, Tanner Stuart, Bentley Sherry, Ember Wolfe, Carissa Smith, Aliahanna Scott, Lilly Raffaele, Gaven Mealy, Kayden Parker, Chalina Abreu, Blake Peterson, Gracelynn Rockwell, Isaac Zapel, Levi Peterson, Laetynn Hoffman, and Rory McBriar.

A total of 36 students who wrote Peculiar Pet Poems were selected for publication: Maeve Miranda, Carrington, McBriar, Hammerbeck, Chapman, Bryan, Buck, Isaac Georgakis, Lihem Hogg, Wellner, Check, Moore, Carly Olsen, Caroline Curren, Owen Damcott, Blake Peterson, Kaylinn Wightman, Ellise Wilson, Addison Johnson, Colton Hagg, Rockwell, Franklin, Thayne Gourley, Chalina Abreu, Smith, Mealy, Joe Sigmund, Sierra Goodman, Stuart, Miller, Sherry, Mason Warner, Jurkowski, Peterson, Zapel, and Wyatt Wilson.
