More than 1,000 receive COVID test at state hospital
More than 1,000 people were tested at community COVID-19 testing at Warren State Hospital over the past several days.
A crew from Aspen Medical International administered tests to drive-up and walk-in patients Thursday through Monday at the Israel Building.
There was no last-minute rush as time was expiring on Monday. There were six cars in line at 5:20 p.m. and only one at 5:30.
The first day of the testing was the biggest, according to AMI COVID Strike Team Leader Millie MacDonald. She said there were about 360 patients on Thursday and from 150 to 200 each of the other four days, with a total of about 1,050.
The testing went well, without any significant problems for the crew, which came to the county from as far as Louisiana and Colorado.
“Everyone was really kind,” MacDonald said. “The county was really hospitable.”
Those who were tested are asked to quarantine until their results come back.
“If you’re positive, in two to four days you’ll receive a phone call,” MacDonald said. “If negative, in three to five days you’ll receive an email.”
Patients who have not received their results after four days may contact the AMI COVID Test Results Call Center at 844-522-5952.
Meanwhile, there were 28 new cases of COVID-19 announced in Warren County on Tuesday. Pennsylvania Department of Health data put the county’s total cases at 852, including 729 confirmed cases and 123 probables.
That total represents a rate of 2,157.1 per 100,000 population. A little over 2 percent of the county population has or has had the virus.
Pennsylvania went over 500,000 total cases on Tuesday. The department reported 465,134 total confirmed cases and 44,186 probables, for a total of 509,320.
Almost 4 percent of the state population has had COVID.
The department reported 12,890 deaths statewide as of Tuesday. According to those numbers, one-tenth of one percent of the entire population (one of every 1,000 people) and about 2.5 percent of those who have had the virus in the state have died from it.
Locally, the Warren zip code added 13 confirmed cases and one probable, Youngsville added four, Sheffield 3, Sugar Grove 2, and Pittsfield and Russell one each.
The other new cases could come from a zip code that originates outside of the county and includes county residents. The Titusville zip had 14 new cases and Corry had 12 confirmed and two probable.
